At Taxon Foundation, we involve our participants in real scientific discoveries. Publications are part of the deal. Here are some of the publications and reports from our finished projects:
On June 15th and 16th, 2024, Taxon Foundation and the Zwolle branch of the KNNV (Royal Netherlands Natural History Association) organised an inventory of the cryptobiota of nature education park the Nooterhof. We discovered a surprisingly rich diversity of, among other groups, rove beetles (Staphylinidae) and also a new species of parasitic wasp for the Netherlands!
Invited by the owners, on a rainy day in March, 2024, Taxon Foundation carried out an inventory of an ancient inner city garden in Leiden.
A group of local residents from the Hees neighborhood in Nijmegen formed the Nature Observers Group Hees. To safeguard the natural value of their neighbourhood, they began a large-scale biodiversity inventory. It was an honour for Taxon Foundation to be asked to condense their data into this final report.
Taxon Foundation was founded in 2020 as the non-profit sister organisation of Taxon Expeditions. This annual report (in Dutch) gives an overview of the activities of the foundation over its first year, the finances, as well as an outlook for 2024.
A few years ago, former spots fields in the neighbourhood Schalkwijk in the city of Haarlem were transformed into an organic neighbourhood garden. But the threat remains that it may one day be converted back into sports facilities. That is why Taxon Foundation is carrying out a series of biodiversity inventories with the community.
